At an event in Singapore, Oppo launches R5 – thinnest phone in the world.
At an event last evening in Singapore, Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo launched its flagship N3 phone along with the R5, which is now the world’s thinnest smartphone. The R5 has a width of only 4.85 mm, which is thinner than the Gionee Elife S5.1, which was 5.1 mm. The two phones will be available in markets by the end of 2014, however, the exact date is unknown. The price of the N3 and R5 is $649 and $499 respectively.
The R5 is so thin that it has no place to accommodate the regular 3.5 mm jack. Users who want to listen to music will have to connect bluetooth speakers or connect via an external adapter. The N3 is the latest edition in the Oppo’s flagship N series. At the event, Oppo also showcased their new Planar Magnetic Headphones – PM 3.
The N3 has a 16 megapixel rotating camera that can rotate up to 206 degrees and can shoot up to 64 megapixel high resolution images with its free stop and multi angle shooting capabilities. The N3 will also have Oppo’s VOOC mini rapid charging facility, that lets users charge their phone to 75% in a 30 minute charge. A minute minute charging session will allow for a 2 hour phone call.
The R5 is built with first-grade steel and has a 5.2-inch AMOLED screen. The camera on the R5 can take up to 50 megapixel high-definition photos.
