Japan based auto giant Nissan kick started the production of the new version of its sedan Maxima on April 22, 2015. The auto maker has hopes that the upcoming sedan will help revive the sales of its flagship segment.

Company officials have claimed that the new version of the Maxima will have more interesting exteriors and interiors, will have a sportier handling and a 300 horsepower engine with an average of 30 miles per gallon. Nissan has introduced the new design so as to deal with the diminishing sales or the sedans.

The large cars of Nissan make up for 5 percent of the US car market in 2000 and had dropped to just 2 percent of the market in 2014. The sales of the sedans were dominated by the midsized cars which have now become larger and more luxurious.

On the other hand the popularity of the small SUVs has also increased. Pierre Loing, the vice president of product strategy and planning for Nissan said, “The segment is very volatile, and when you bring a very strong product it grows because those cars manage to catch customers from other segments”. The new vehicle by Nissan is expected to go on sale in summer 2015 and is expected to be priced between $32,410 and $39,860.
