Kirthiga Reddy, India’s first Managing director at Facebook announced that she will step down from her current position and would relocate at Facebook’s headquarters at Menlo Park, California. Reddy joined Facebook in 2010 as the first employee in India.
The MD on her Facebook page has said that she would be relocating to the US in the next 6-12 months. The Facebook post read, “I have also begun to explore new opportunities at Facebook back at Menlo Park”.
Reddy added that she is also working closely with William Eastern, the MD of emerging markets Asia Pacific and Dan Neary, the vice president of Asia Pacific to fill the empty space. On the other hand Facebook India remained silent over Kirthiga Reddy’s post on Facebook.
But a spokesperson from Facebook clarified that Reddy is packing her bags to get back to the US to work with her colleagues at the headquarters and added that during her time in India, Kirthiga was not involved in the Free Basic Services Effort. Reddy did her engineering from the MGM College of Engineering in Nanded and passed out in 1992. While looking out for job opportunities, Reddy met Yashwant Kanetkar, the author of the book ‘Let Us C’. Reddy used to help the author with programming examples in the book.
