Auto giant Nissan has hiked the prices of its whole range of vehicles for the Indian market. The company has hiked the prices by 4% due to the new levies that was announced during the Union Budget 2016-17.
A spokesperson from the company said, “The increase in prices is in the range of 1-3.5 per cent across models”. The company representative also informed that the prices have been hiked of its Datsun models by 1 percent and that of the diesel models include the Terrano and mid-sized sedan Sunny by 3.25 percent – 3.5 percent.
The company’s Datsun range includes the entry-level small car Datsun Go and also its multi-purpose vehicle Datsun Go Plus which has been priced between Rs. 3.23 lakh and Rs. 4.78 lakh, ex-showroom price Delhi. Meanwhile other auto companies like Tata Motors and Maruti Suzuki have also announced a price hike in their fleet.
Earlier companies like Hyundai, Mahindra and Honda Cars also announced price hikes of up to Rs. 82,906 across their entire product range. Maruti Suzuki had hiked its prices earlier in order to offset the effect of the infrastructure cess that was proposed in the budget 2016-17. The government has imposed a 2.5 percent cess on diesel vehicles of length not exceeding more than 4 meters.
