Asia Bizz: Apple In Talks With Two Indian CDMA Wireless Carriers To Bring In The iPhone
Technology giant Apple is rumored to be in talks with two India wireless carriers, to bring in the CDMA iPhone in the country. In the US Verizon and other carriers will be coming up with their CDMA iPhones early next year, and now Apple is eying India. India is considered to be a huge market for CDMA phones and the Apple iPhone is looking very promising for them.
Two Indian companies interested in the iPhone is Tata and Reliance Communications, who specifically have a very large market capture in the country. If Apple goes ahead with this deal, it will roughly try to capture a market of 550 million users. CDMA technology is not having a strong hold in India but with Apple feels that the iPhone could help this market grow.
Every year it is reported that some 18 million users subscribe to the communication market in India. Out of the 670 million users in India only 20% of them are using CDMA technology. It is also a point to be noted that the cheapest iPhones in the region are available in India with Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Essar wireless carriers.
