Asia Bizz: Virgin Magazine On The Apple iPad: Richard Branson
Virgin Group Chairman Richard Branson has announced that there would be an official publication of the Virgin magazine for the Apple iPad, a move in response to the Rupert Murdoch’s iPad newspaper. The popularity of the iPad is increasing by the day and Virgin is coming up with their own application for the device sometime next week.
Virgin is advertising that this form of media is the first sort of paperless magazine publication, being a revolution in itself. This was a project announced by Virgin back in the month of July, and had code named it ‘Maverick’. After the announcement of the magazine, there will be strong face off between Rupert’s iPad news paper and the Virgin Magazine.
Rupert’s iPad newspaper will be unveiling next year and the company has geared up 100 dedicated journalists who will be working for this publication. Apple iPad has made its own distinct sales pattern compared to other tablets, as it has already sold some 13 million units in the year 2010 and is expected to touch 20 million by the year 2011.
