Asia Bizz: Toyota has recalled almost 1.7 million cars and most of them in Japan. The No. 1 automaker in the world has recalled these cars for defects such as fuel leakage and some more quality issues.

The models that Toyota has recalled are from a wide range which includes the likes of the GS Lexus luxury models and the IS in North American countries. In Europe Toyota has recalled the station wagon and the Avensis sedan. No form of accidents have been suspected due to the problems the cars have, but the reason for this step is as Toyota received around 75 complaints from North America and around 140 complaints in Japan.

This is also the second largest auto recall in Japan’s history, nearly 1.3 vehicles are affected in Japan alone. The biggest recall was way back in the year 2005 in Japan where 1.3 million Toyota Corolla’s had faulty headlight switches and were recalled.

It is said that Toyota last month agreed to pay around $32.4 million as fines towards the U.S government in regard with settling the investigation of two previous recalls.
