Asia Bizz: The BlackBerry PlayBook tablet will be on sale in the US and Canada on the 19th of April 2011 and will start at a price of $499. The market for the iPad is just going to have more competition with the amount of tablets increasing. Research In Motion, the makers of the Blackberry smartphones, spoke regarding when the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet launch.
The PlayBook runs on a QNX platform which enables it for good multitasking. It has a 7 inch screen and consists of 1GHz dual-core processor, 1080p video playback, 3-megapixel camera in the front and a 5-megapixel camera at the back, 1GB of RAM and micro-HDMI output.
The date of the launch is the 19th of April 2011 – if there is no delay – you will see the tablet in retail outlets across the US and Canada. Customers can place pre-orders of the tablet which begins today. The BlackBerry PlayBook will come in three models – 16GB, 32GB or 64GB – and will be priced at $499, $599 and $699.
The Apple iPad will have its eyes on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet as this could be a decent threat to Apple. The iPad 2 will also be launched in 25 countries on the 25th of March, which is just a few days away. All Apple iPad fans can hope that the iPad 2 is much better than its first release.
