Asia Bizz: Professional networking website LinkedIn announced that they have reached a total of 100 million users. Out of these, around 44 millions users are from the United States itself. LinkedIn revealed that around 1 million users join the website every week.
LinkedIn was launched way back in the year 2003 and this year, they have also shown interest to go public.
Even thought the number of users that LinkedIn has reside in the US, the rate of growth in countries like India, Mexico, France and Brazil are breathtaking as Brazil is growing at around 428%. These signs are great for the growth of LinkedIn, but it still lags far behind from the number one networking website Facebook, which currently has around 600 million users around the world. Twitter, on the other hand, fires around 1 billion tweets every week and has over 200 million users.
The ultimate goal of LinkedIn, right from it’s early days, has been to connect the world’s professionals in a more successful and productive way.
Reid Hoffman found LinkedIn along with some colleagues back in 2002, and Jeff Weiner is the current CEO of the business networking website.
Social media has been huge in the past few years, and is growing day by day. It is the next level of the internet, and who knows what else is on it’s way.
