Asia Bizz: Indian-based wind energy company Suzlon, has been given the green signal to go ahead with it’s plan to setup and operate 50.4 mega watts of wind farm projects in the state of Gujarat; following the win of it’s fifth order on Wednesday by the Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd. The wind turbine maker will set up farms in Rajkot and Surendranagar districts, and it is expected to be completed by September 2011.
Suzlon – which is currently based out of Ahmedabad – will install 2.1-megawatt S88 turbines in it’s new project in the northwestern state of India. The new projects are expected to increase the wind power capacity of Gujarat State Fertilizer by a whopping 70% to 123.4 MW.
The company currently has projects in Kutch and Porbandar districts of Gujarat of around 73 MW. Suzlon is also working towards the Kutch Wind Park, which has an anticipated capacity of 1,500mw, with 800mw already being approved.
The eight-largest wind turbine manufacturer in the world also happens to work on the largest wind park in the world which is located in the Western Ghats of India, in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is of 584 MW.
Suzlon came into existence back in 1995 and has it’s headquarters in Pune city, in the state of Maharashtra, India.
