Asia Bizz: The Indian unit of the Czech Republic based company Skoda has reported an increase in the sales by 43 percent in the month of November,2011. Skoda said that it managed to sell 2,627 units of its models in India compared to the 1,841 units in the same month last year.
Thomas Kuehl, the Indian Board member of Skoda sales and marketing, while talking about the company’s performance in November, said that they have recently entered the most competitive C segment in India with its Rapid.
Kuehl added that with the launch of its new Rapid car in the country, they hope it can become the best selling car among the Skoda family. After the launch of its Rapid, the company has received tremendous response with 1,600 bookings just from the Indian market.
The company is now seriously considering its expansion plans in India. Skoda has now planned to expand its dealership network and has also planned to launch a few of its new portfolio models. By the end of the year, the company aims to increase the number of dealerships by 100. According to the current portfolio of the company in India, Skoda has its hatchback Fabia, Rapid in the sedan segment, Laura and Superb in the premium sedan and Yeti in the compact SUV segment.
