Asia Bizz: Popular American multinational electronics commerce company Amazon.com is in the process of setting up its first fulfillment centre in India. Amazon.com is the world’s largest internet retailer and is trying to enter the second most popular nation in the world.

A fulfillment centre is like a giant warehouse which will help Amazon and other online retailers to store products, ship them and handle returns. The fulfillment centre is based in Mumbai, which is considered as the biggest city in the country.

This indicates that it might also have opportunities and has an immediate opening for an IT manager at the fulfillment centre. In recent times, the online retailer was also looking for a financial analyst in Mumbai to report to the general manager and controller and help in the operating of the fulfillment centre.

Last year, the online retailer spent a lot setting up ten fulfillment centres in the US. The company is now looking forward to open these centres in Germany, China, Japan and also UK. The setting up of a fulfillment centre costs the company a lot and an investment in the Asian country means that it is serious to get in to business in the country.

The spokesperson Amazon has not responded to its plans in India.
