Asia Bizz: After unveiling the new iPad 4G, it is likely that the tablet PC could face a ban in China. The new iPad could be banned if the trademark issue of the Chinese technology firm Proview Technology Shenzhen does not resolve.
The Chinese-based firm is fighting with the American firm for the trademark of its iPad in major legal case. The firm has also called for Chinese distributors to cease the selling of the tablet PC.
Recently, several iPads from the retail shops of many of the cities were taken off shelves after the complaint of the company. Proview Technology has claimed that it owns the iPad name and has also filed a lawsuit against Apple’s use of the trademark in China at the Santa Clara Superior Court.
Earlier the company even tried to ban the sales of the tablet in China, which could not be done; but a fresh attempt has been undertaken by the company which is nearly bankrupt. The company has sent an open letter to the technology supplies and resellers, asking them to top storing and supplying iPad. The letter added that anyone who continues to do so will be seen as internationally infringing rights and the company will adopt the most severe measures by taking legal action.
