The Chinese spring clean-up campaign is all set to begin on April 25, 2013, in the city of Beijing. The campaign will have all officials participating, by which they intend to set an example by getting involved in cleaning up the streets of the city.
The officials from the Beijing Municipal People’s Congress, Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, Beijing Government and the Beijing Municipal Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, have been asked to participate in the campaign. The information on the campaign was given by Xie Guoming, the spokesman of the Beijing Municipal Commission of the City Administration and Environment, at a press conference on April 25, 2013.
Xie further informed that the cleaning campaign will address problems which involve garbage heaps, outdoor exposure of garbage, white pollution, animal waste, bill posters and more. So as to meet the increasing demand of tourism during the holiday season, additional portable toilets will be added in Tiananmen Square as well.
During the holiday period, underground restrooms in the National Museum will also be opened to the public. In other news, a recent report also said that unlicensed tour programs and tour guides will be targeted around the square .
