Popular game manufacturer Nintendo Co. is looking forward to modifying its game consoles so that customers can also use the smartphone applications on them. The recent attempt will be made by the company as it searches for new ways to return a profit.
The company has offered professional conversion software to the developers of applications so they can produce smartphone games which can be played on the Wii U. The Wii U console is these days struggling for popularity, which had once helped the firm widen its operating loss in the financial year 2012.
With the recent move, the gaming company hopes that the software application will help spur console sales, which will lead to an increase in the sales of its popular game titles. One of the main reasons for the failure of Nintendo was the lack of games to play on the company’s consoles, which had led to worse-than-expected console sales and group operating losses of ¥36.4 billion for the financial year ending in the month of March 2013.
This had also marked the second consecutive loss for Nintendo. Moreover, the company is also set to release a new title from the popular Pocket Monster series in the month of October 2013, for the 3DS portable device.
