Asia Bizz: Hockey India Is Not A Government Body Anymore, Says Sports Ministry Of India
The Sports Ministry of India has withdrawn Hockey as the national sport from the National Sports Federation (NSF) temporarily for reportedly violating the Government laid rules and regulations, along with claiming that it was autonomous and is not under the Government.

The Sports Ministry stated, “Hockey India has derived its entire authority only after Government gave clearance to them for using the name of ‘Hockey India’ and to register themselves as an NSF to direct, control and regulate the sport of Hockey in India. Further, HI duly accepted the conditions attached to that recognition and also sought the clearance of the Government for holding their elections. But their subsequent refusal to abide by the Government guidelines has made them liable for derecognition,”
If this wasn’t enough, Ramesh Nambiar, the recently appointed Joint Secretary of Hockey India gave in his resignation for his posts, giving up on the controversy of his eligibility to contest for the elections.
