It has been a disastrous year for BP when it comes to their financial outlook, since  they underwent something that they might have not even imagined of at the beginning of the year. USA’s worst ever oil spill which took place as a result of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion in the month of April caused a total of loss to BP amounting to $6.1 Billion.

The oil spill has caused unmountable environmental damage, and there has been around 145000 claims that have come up as a result of the oil spill. The claim amount goes upto $319 million. The drilling operations of BP have also been questioned by the US government, in the Gulf of Mexico. BP has reportedly managed to plug the oil well.
Reuters reports that the shares and investments of BP have been severely hampered due to the spill, and all the costs incurred in the oil spill amounts to $6.1 billion.
