Officials from the Buckingham Palace have confirmed that the Duchess of Cambridge has given birth to a baby boy. The officials went on to say that the baby was born on July 22, 2013 at 4:24 pm and weighs 8 pounds and 6 ounces. The baby has become the third in line for the British throne, after Prince Charles and Prince William.
Reports said that William spent long hours with Kate while she was in labor. Kate checked into St Mary’s Hospital in Central London on July 22, 2013, early morning. Soon after the news of Middleton being admitted to the hospital spread, the media frenzy began and everyone was waiting for further development on the birth of the royal baby.
A message from Clarence House – the official residence of the Duchess and Prince William – said, “Her royal highness the Duchess of Cambridge has been admitted to St Mary’s Hospital in the early stages of labour”. Kate Middleton was taken by car to the hospital from another royal residence, Kensington Palace.
Reports said that the couple entered the hospital through a side entrance, while escaping shutterbugs who were waiting outside the hospital. A spokesperson for the couple said that they traveled without police security and that things are progressing as normal.
