The 42-year-old India chief of Facebook says that her challenge is to make Indian companies perceive Facebook as a mass media, as opposed to social media. Reddy said, “That’s the shift that I see, that’s the kind of conversation I have with Indian CEOs and CMOs”. She went on to say that Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook sees India as a key market and a large market for the company’s monetization drive. In addition to that, Zuckerberg sees India as a lead market for emerging economy models.

The figures of Facebook India are impressive and add up to 93 million users, which is second only to the US user base. It has also been revealed that as many as 75 million of these are on mobile, as per the figures from December 2013. The social networking giant began its operations in India four years ago and Reddy joined the company when the user base was just 8 million in the country.
