Online retail giant Amazon has revealed its plans to offer cloud based email and calendar service. The new email service will be introduced against the other services like Microsoft Outlook and other.

The upcoming email service is known as the Amazon WorkMail and will allow the users to receive and send emails, share calendars, manage contacts and book resources with the help of the same email applications used today. This includes Google Apps and Outlook. Amazon’s new service is focused to serve the corporate sector which are currently concentrating on Microsoft’s Outlook.

The retail giant will be offering through the cloud unit Amazon Web Services and will be charging $4 per month which includes 50 gigabytes of mailbox storage for every user. The upcoming service can also be merged with the Amazon WorkDocs, which is a file storage service earlier known as Zocalo. Amazon in a statement said that WorkMail is fully compatible with Microsoft Outlook and that the customers can immediately integrate it with their existing corporate directory.

The statement added that the users can also choose encryption keys select location where they want their data to stay and just pay for the mailboxes that they reside.
