Passengers arriving at the Changi Airport will be able to shop online even before they land. The future of shopping is here and the items shopped by the passengers online will be ready for collection at the designated counters by the time they arrive. Only the passengers who are departing will have access to iShopChangi.com.
The service will also be available to the passengers arriving by the end of the year. The payment of the items will be made online. The new service aims to make shopping more convenient for the customers and to also improve retail sales. Items that will be on sale will include cosmetics, spirits, wines and other similar stuff.
The best part is that the travellers will not have to pay the 7 percent goods and services tax as it will be absorbed by the retailers. Robin Goh, the Changi Airport Group spokesperson said, “To serve customers better, we will also be looking at reducing the order cut-off from 24 hours to 18 hours before flight departure, giving shoppers a longer window to finalise their purchases”.
The launch of the online service will improve commercial takings and will also subsidise the cost of providing services to airlines and ground handlers.
