Smartphone manufacturing giant Xiaomi is stepping in every possible platform as it attempts to spread its presence across various markets. Xiaomi is all set to launch its first VR headset on August 1, 2016.
The general manager of the company Tang Mu confirmed that they are working on a virtual reality headset that will be compatible with Google’s DayDream platform. The DayDream platform was announced by Google ‘s I/O event held in June, 2016. MU said that this would reportedly be the best way to give its optimized MIUI users the VR experience.
Xiaomi has posted a teaser which hinted that the headset is likely to be launched on August 1, 2016. If Xiaomi actually launched the VR headset then it would join the likes of other companies including Sony, HTC, Samsung and Google, who have also developed their own VR headsets. The concept of virtual reality is a boom in the market and is a new category but has already seen products in the market which have made a place in the hearts of the users.
Xiaomi has in recent times also announced its first laptop the Mi Notebook Air that features an all metal body. With the recent announcement, the company has also made an entry in to the laptop segment.
