The World Travel Awards declared New Zealand, Queensland and Malaysia as winners over the weekend. The destinations have been crowned as the leading destinations in the respective regions. Some of the industry leaders came together at the Interncontinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, in Vietnam and recognize the best in Asian travel over the weekend.
The winners of the event were voted by some of the major players in tourism and travel including travel buyers, senior executives, tour operators, agents and general public. In the airline category, Chinese carrier Hainan claimed the title of Asia’s leading airline. Air New Zealand’s Quantas and Virgin Australia will take the same title for Australia.
Malaysia has been named as the leading destination in Asia over Macau, Thailand and Singapore while Queensland, New Zealand helped it to grab the title of the leading destination for Australia. The regional award winners will be qualifying for the World Travel Awards grand finale that is all set to take place in December 2, 2016 in the Maldives.
