Asia Bizz: Automotive navigation systems Manufacturer TomTom, has recently announced its entry in the Indian market. The company which is known for its car navigation solutions would begin selling three navigation devices, Via 100, Via 120 and Via 125 from this month onwards.

The company has said that the devices would use the global positioning technology that would help the driver to provide navigation. TomTom has already spent several years in building the maps of the Indian streets.

Jocelyn Vigreux, the managing director of TomTom India has said that the navigation market in India is growing fast and added that the company’s global standards and processes have the ability to change the current regional landscapes.

The prices of the devices would start from Rs. 15,000 in the Indian market. In India, the other companies who provide navigation solutions are MayMyIndia and Garmin. Many of the smartphones which have the Android OS in them also provide navigation and maps to the users with the help of the GPS function. The MD of TomTom has assured that they have designed special landmark navigation specially for India as 70% of the roads in the country do not have any names. As of today, India still lags behind in terms of navigation facilities.
