French auto making giant Renault is now all set to launch the entry level saloon Scala during the festival of Diwali in India. The company if fulfilling its promise of a five product portfolio in 18 months since it ventured in to India with premium saloon Fluence in May 2011.

While launching the fourth product, stylish off-roader Duster and the most ambitious one in India,an official from the company said that the Scala would have a 1.5 litre diesel engine delivering 84.8 BHP, which is the same as its cousin Nissan Sunny.

Later the company might even introduce a 1.5 litre petrol engine option. The new saloon is expected to have some minor modifications in headlamp, tail light, bumper and grille.

The company official said, “The Renault design centre in Mumbai has worked on the product and it will look distinctly Renault unlike the Pulse that resembles Micra very closely”. The Scala will be launched in early November and will be priced slightly high than Sunny at Rs. 6 to 8 lakhs range. The official explained that the Renault has a premium range which they want to retain. The company had launched the top models of the Pulse so as to improve the company’s brand as quality car makers.
