Indian Nokia phone enthusiasts were waiting for quite some time for a new Lumia phone. However, now it seems like the wait is over and the company has sent out official invites for a press event scheduled for January 10, 2013.

The event will see the launch of the new Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820. Reports have stated that the event will be held in New Delhi and a simulcast event will be held in Mumbai. The invite for the event has a headline ‘Are you ready to switch?’. Earlier the company had coined #SwitchtoLumia as a hashtag when they first launched the device in New York.

Before Nokia’s launch there were rumours that the smartphones would support 9 bands, including LTE, for high speed Internet. However, the latest information about the new Lumia 920 mentioned on its website says that the device can support only 8 bands. The 2600 Mhz band has been taken off the description as well.

In India 4G runs on 2300 Mhz, while the Lumia 920 supports 2100 Mhz. The new Lumia 920 is expected to cost Rs. 40,000 in the Indian market, while the Lumia 820 is expected to be priced at Rs. 31,000. The key feature of the Lumia 920 is its super sensitive touch panel which allows the users to handle their smartphones even while wearing gloves.
