Indian mobile and tablet manufacturer Lava has launched its Iris 501 tablet for its customer in the country. With the recent launch, the competition within the budget-tablet market has just increased. The new Laval Iris 501 has a 5-inch display and operates on Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich platform. The device is powered by a 1 Ghz dual-core processor.
The new Iris 501 tablet has been introduced in the Rs 10,000 segment and has dimensions of 148.5 mm x 79 mm x 10.5 mm with a 480 x 800 pixel resolution. The phone-cum-tablet (also known as a phablet) features a VGA front-facing camera and a 5 megapixel auto focus rear camera. The connectivity features of the tablet include Bluetooth, USB, Wi Fi and GPS.
Lava, along with the tablet, will also be offering a free 4 GB micro-SD card. The new Lava Iris 501 is also packed with applications like Hike, Saavn Music, a Fusion Music organizer app and a pre-installed HD. The device also comes with a powerful 2,300 mAh battery.
At present, the market is flooded with budget tablets and the Lava Iris 501 has made things tougher for its competitors. Before the Iris, Lava launched an entry-level Android smartphone known as the Iris N350. The Iris N350 runs on the Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread platform and is powered by a 1 GHz processor.
