India is getting to witness a slew of new hand-held computing devices, with the latest being Datawind’s ‘UbiSlate 7C+ Edge’. This is the same company that manufactures the low-cost Aakash tablet. The UbiSlate 7C+Edge is available in the Indian market for INR 5,999.
The new tablet is set to have a GHz processor, along with 512 MB of Ram, all running on the Android 4.0.3 operating system (Ice Cream Sandwich). The device also features the unique Ubisurfer browser, which comes complete with 18 internationally recognized patents to its name.
Internally, there is the option to expand the memory to 32 GB with the help of a Micro SD card, in addition to the onboard memory. There are also mini-USB ports that become quite handy to transfer data and other information.
It is quite possible that the next installment of the Aakash tablet will take some points from the ‘UbiSlate 7C+ Edge’, as the company continues to hone its skills in the competitive tablet market. Datawind has been lagging behind its orders for the Aakash 2 tablet, even as IIT Bombay awaits its complete consignment of 1 lakh tablets by March 31, 2013.
There are rumors that the new ‘UbiSlate 7C+ Edge’ could also be behind on orders, after some online retailers have allegedly said that they are out of stock for the device.
