While the South Korean technology giant Samsung is busy sending invites for an event to unveil a new device, its competitor Asus has also geared up to launch a new Android device in India. Asus is all set to launch its Fonepad on April 24, 2013, at a press event. The exact pricing of the device is yet to be unveiled, but it is expected to be priced around Rs. 15,000.
This will be the first Android tablet by the company which will be powered by an Intel processor and will be joining the growing tablet line up of the manufacturer. The company already has a lineup which contains the Memo Pad, Nexus 7 and PadFone devices.
The tablet was originally unveiled at the Mobile World Congress, while the Asus Fonepad contains a 7-inch display with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. The device is powered by an Intel Atom Z2420 processor. This is the same processor which is present in XOLO’s entry level smartphone X500. The Fonepad runs on Android’s 4.1 platform, but is expected to get a 4.2 update, along with the Memo Pad.
The Memo Pad Smart 10 has already received its Jelly Bean 4.2 update and the 7-inch version is the next in line to receive the update.
