Auto giant Honda Cars India Ltd have reported sales of 8,488 units in April 2013, against 7,075 units in the same period last year. This has shown a growth of 20 percent, on a year-on-year basis. The recent growth has been largely contributed by the sales of the new Honda sedan Amaze in the month of April 2013.
Moreover, the company has also sold 1,628 units of the Brio, 1,917 units of the City sedan, 58 units of CRV and 33 units of the Accord in the month of April. Just a few weeks have passed since the launch of the new Amaze and it has already received 22,000 bookings. The car has outshone the response that Maruti Suzuki India received for its Swift Dzire, which was launched a year ago.
It seems that the company is struggling to keep up with the huge demand for the Amaze and it is expected that the diesel version of the vehicle could easily become one of the most successful cars that was ever launched from the Indian subsidiary of the popular Japanese car maker.
Right now, the company can only produce 4,500 to 5,000 units of the Amaze every month due to limited production facility. Due to this, the customers have to bear long waiting periods, especially for the popular diesel version of the vehicle.
