Japan-based auto maker Nissan said that it will be recalling 22,000 units of its small car Nissan Micra as well as its Sunny sedan in India. The company is recalling the units in order to rectify a faulty braking system. The recall is part of a global action by the company, being undertaken in order to rectify the problem.
Nissan is recalling the vehicles that were manufactured between June 2012 and March 2013. The vehicles will be recalled to the workshop by the wholly-owned subsidiary Nissan Motor India.
A spokesperson for Nissan India said, “Nissan is conducting a voluntary recall campaign on approximately 67,089 Micra and Sunny vehicles in Africa, Asia, Europe, India, Latin America and Caribbean, and Middle East markets to replace the master brake cylinder”. The spokesperson also went on to say that, so far, the company has not received any complaints in India related to this issue. The company will soon begin notifying its customers.
The master brake cylinder will be replaced by the Nissan retailers at no cost to the customers. The spokesperson also said that the company is committed to providing high level of customer safety, service and satisfaction. Nissan is also working with the dealers to promptly address the issue.
