Chinese electronics manufacturer Huawei has launched its newest Honor branded smartphone, the Honor 3 for the Chinese market on August 30, 2013. It is a mid-level device, which the company claims is dustproof and waterproof.

The specifications of the device include a 4.7-inch display at 1280 x 720 and Huawei’s K3V2 quad-core processor at 1.5 GHz. The device also has 2 GB of RAM with 8 GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot with 13-megapixel Exmor RS rear-facing camera. The Honor 3 runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with the Emotion UI sitting on top.

The device also has an infra-red sensor which allows users to use the phone to control other household items, like the TV. Huawei claims that the handset can withstand being in up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes. The handset can endure a dunk in the pool or even rain. So far, the company has not indicated any global launch of the device.

The Honor 3 has been priced at 1,888 yuan, which will be roughly around $310 in terms of US dollars. Moreover, Huawei is also planning to launch 5G networks by 2020.
