Security arrangements have been tightened in Zhejiang province in order to protect hospital workers, as the situation there has been intensified due to the latest attack on a doctor who was killed last week.
On October 25, 2013, the 46-year-old Wang Yunjie – the chief physician of the ear, nose and throat department at First People’s Hospital of Wenling – was stabbed to death. The police said that the physician was killed by Lian Enqing, who was not content with surgery that was performed on him in 2012.
The 33-year-old patient is a resident of Wenling and also injured two other doctors in the attack. The memorial service for Wang will be conducted at 7 am on October 31, 2013, at the Wenling funeral home. The assistant president of the hospital, Zheng Zhijian said that a huge crowd is expected to attend the funeral of the doctor.
The hospital staff and its leaders resolved the conflict on October 27, 2013 on how to deal with the body of the victim. Additional personnel have been deployed for to guard the hospital and its employees, but that still did not manage to dispel concerns of some medical workers and they have called for the end of violence in the region.
