The CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg made it clear on April 30, 2014 at the gathering of software developers who create apps for the social media platform that Facebook is no longer the company it was before. For instance, four years ago, during the company’s developer meeting, the focus was on developing buttons and tools on the site so that users of Facebook could do a number of cool things with their friends and family members.
This was to make sure that Facebook users who used their PCs to access their accounts could do as many interesting things as possible with their friends online. However, the scenario is changing completely now, as Facebook’s market clout has grown at the same time with its users, profit, as well as revenue. The company’s CEO is now looking to create an economic ecosystem for app developers who flock to the mobile, consumer Internet.
Zuckerberg told his audience that the social networking giant wants to build ‘the cross-platform platform’. This means that a software system has to be made which will free app developers from needing to code various versions for handheld devices which run software from Apple, Microsoft, Android or other mobile Web browsers.
By the end of the meeting, Zuckerberg promised app creators that a more stable and more durable mobile platform will be created in the near future.
