Apple launches its iphone 5C 8GB for the Indian market, this latest move is being seen as an attempt by Apple to further pump its presence in the Indian smartphone market.
The US based tech giant has priced its latest iPhone 5C 8 GB version at Rs. 37,500. Industry experts suggest that the company’s steep prices have always kept it from featuring on list of top 3 players in the Indian smartphone market.
This new move is a clear steer towards wooing price sensitive markets like India and China.
The iPhone 5C, along with Apple’s flagship iPhone 5S, was launched globally last October. The 8GB variant of the device was launched in the UK and France under partnerships with telecom operators O2 and SFR.
Key Features of the iphone 5C 8GB-
- Camera – 8MP rear camera with flash and a 1.2MP front-facing camera.
- Display – 4-inch Retina display.
- Internals – identical to iphone 5, including the A6 chipset.
- Look – polycarbonate shell with five colour options couple with a glossy finish.
The burgeoning middle class in India has constantly pushed smartphone makers local and international to innovate and maintain prices. Smartphone sales in India grew almost three – fold and touched 44 million in 2013 from 16.2 million in 2012.
Apple is up against giants such as Samsung and Micromax who have a market share of 38 and 16 percent respectively.
