Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni successfully completed 10,000 runs in International cricket as a captain. Dhoni reached the landmark figure in a third Test against Australia at Melbourne Cricket Ground, 2014. The Indian player reached the figure on the final day of the Test during India’s second innings.
The Indians tried hard to save the game against Australians. The Indian captain managed to score two fours in Ryan Harris’ over to complete his 10,000 runs. With the latest acheivement, Dhoni has joined the list which include Greame Smith, Ricky Ponting, Steven Fleming and Allan Border.
Dhoni started off his career in 2005 and has since then played 50 Twenty 20 Internationals, 89 Tests and has scored 4,841 runs on an average which is a shade above 38. The player’s highest score in the format is 224 against Australia at Chennai in 2013. The skipper also has many records in his name and has managed to make a name in One Day Internationals and T20 formats.
India under Dhoni’s captainship has won the ICC World Cup 2011 and ICC World T20 2007. However in terms of Test, Dhoni’s team has struggled many times. Dhoni is is considered as one of the greatest finishers in limited overs cricket.
