Internet giant Yahoo has announced that it is all set to shut down some of its online products including Yahoo Games, Live Text, Yahoo Astrology and more. There are also reports that Yahoo will also be pulling the plugs from some of its regional media properties.
The company in a Tumbler post wrote, “During our last earnings call, we outlined a plan for simplifying the business and focusing on our strengths across seven core consumer products: Mail, Search, Tumblr, News, Sports, Finance and Lifestyle. After a careful evaluation, we’ve decided to make the following product decisions.” The Yahoo Games Site and publishing channel will be shut down on May 13, 2016.
By the end of March 2016 Yahoo is planning to shut down its LiveText. The company explained that LiveText allowed them to experiment with the new user experiences and features to drive innovations across their products. Yahoo added that they are planning to add the features and learnings to new products including Yahoo Messenger.
Meanwhile Yahoo Astrology will be shut down in UK, France, Germany, Spain and India. Other Yahoo services like Yahoo Maktoob which has Celebrity, News, Movies, Style, Helwa, Weather and Sports will shut down and the services will be directed to Yahoo Maktoob homepages in English and Arabic.
