The Indian state of Kashmir has curfew like restrictions for the second day in a row after which mobile internet services on April 14, 2016 have been suspended in some areas. The internet services have been blocked in some places after four people have been killed in action by the security forces.
Moreover strict actions have been imposed in Kupwara town, Handwara, Kralgund, Magam and Langate areas in north Kashmir. The measures have been taken so as to maintain law and order. One of the police officials said that restrictions were imposed after deaths of three persons during protests against an alleged molestation of a girl by a soldier on April 12, 2016.
Restrictions continue in some of the police station area where stone pelting incidents were reported. The affected police station areas include Safakadal, Khanyar, Maharajgunj, Nowhatta, Rainawari and Maisuma. Normal life was affected in the area after the strike was called by the separatist groups. Even the markets were closed and the public transport was off the roads due to the strike.
Officials said that the internet services have been barred to avoid spreading of unnecessary rumours during the crisis period. The situation in most of the valley has been peaceful so far but incidences of stone-pelting has been reported in some of the parts in south Kashmir.
