However, anti-government protesters did not seem satisfied with the latest move. A huge number of protesters have gathered in Bangkok and they say that their goal on December 9, 2013 is to enter the office of Shinawatra, which is known as the Government House. A spokesperson for the government said that new elections will be held by February 2, 2014, but Shinawatra might not be her party’s choice this time around.

Teerat Ratanasevi, the spokesperson, while referring to the ruling party said, “I don’t know whether the Pheu Thai Party will still vote (for) her to run again or not”. The move by the Prime Minister of Thailand was made on Monday, December 9, 2013, after the main opposition party of Thailand, the Democrat Party stated that about 150 of its members will resign from the parliament, as they are not able to work with the government any longer.

Opposition party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva said that huge protests will not leave the government with any choice. He went on to say that the best way for the Prime Minister to show responsibility is to return power to the people of Thailand.
